Arizona Coyotes

The Arizona Coyotes are a National Hockey League team located in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. The Coyotes are members of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference.

The franchise was founded in 1971 as the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association. The team joined the NHL in 1979 after merger with the WHA. After struggling financially, the franchise was sold and moved to Phoenix, Arizona prior to the 1996-97 season.

The Coyotes played at what is now Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix for the first 7 seasons before moving to the Gila River Arena in Glendale during the 2003-04 season.

The Coyotes have had minimal success in the playoffs. The team only has one division title and has not made it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
