Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers are a National Hockey League team located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where they are members of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference.

 

The team began play in 1972 as part of the World Hockey Association before being absorbed by the NHL in 1979 after the merger with the WHA. The Oilers spent most of their seasons playing at the Northlands Coliseum, from 1974 until 2016 when the team moved to Rogers Place for the start of the 2016 season.

 

The Edmonton Oilers are the winningest team since the 1979 merger, winning 5 Stanley Cup championships, all of which came during the Oilers dynasty years between the 1983-84 and 1989-90 seasons.
