Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators are a National Hockey League team located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The current franchise is the second incarnation of the Ottawa Senators, as the original team was founded in 1883, won 11 Stanley Cup championships, and was a member of the NHL from 1917-1934.

The current Ottawa Senators were founded in 1992 as an expansion team, as were the Tampa Bay Lightning, and are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Senators have played their home games at Canadian Tire Centre since 1996 after playing their first few seasons at the Ottawa Civic Centre.

Although the new Ottawa Senators have been fairly successful in making the playoffs, it has only resulted in one trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, where they lost to the Anaheim Ducks in the 2007-07 season.
