Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a National Hockey League team located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The franchise was founded in 1967, along with in-state rival Philadelphia Flyers, as part of the league's first expansion from the Original Six teams of the modern NHL. The Penguins began playing in Civic Arena, better known as “The Igloo” by Penguins fans until the team moved to there current home, PPG Paints Arena for the 2010-11 season.

The Penguins had limited playoff success until they drafted “Super” Mario Lemieux in 1984. Led by Lemieux, the Penguins won their first two Stanley Cups in 1990-91 and the following season in 1991-92. Pittsburgh would win 2 more Stanley Cup championships in 2008-09 and 2015-16 led by Sidney Crosby.
