Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning are a National Hockey League team located in Tampa, Florida. The Lightning, often referred to as the Bolts, are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.
The franchise was founded in 1992 along with the Ottawa Senators as the newest expansion teams in the league. The team began playing at Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds. The following season, the Lightning moved to what is now known as Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Rays of Major League Baseball. In 1996, the franchise moved to Amalie Arena, formerly known as the Ice Palace and St. Pete Times Forum.
The Lightning have had limited success in making the playoffs, however, they have made the Stanley Cup finals twice, most recently during the 2014-15 season. Tampa has one Stanley Cup championship, winning the Cup in the 2003-04 season.
