Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves are a Major League Baseball franchise located in Atlanta, Georgia, playing their home games at Turner Field. The Braves are currently members of the National League East division after relocating several times. The franchise originated in Boston, Massachusetts in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings. After several name changes, the team became known as the Boston Braves through much of the first half of the 20th century. The team moved to Milwaukee to become the Milwaukee Braves in 1953 until moving again in 1966 to Atlanta.
The Braves franchise is argued to be the longest continually operating franchise in major North American Sports. The Braves franchise has won a total of three World Series championships, with the most recent in 1995. During the 1990s and early 2000s, the Atlanta Braves were one of the most successful teams in the league, winning 14 division titles in 15 seasons. Five of those trips lead to playing in the World Series, although 1995 was the only season ending with a championship.
