Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are a Major League Baseball team located in Boston, Massachusetts, playing in the American League East division. The franchise was founded in 1901 as the Boston Red Stockings, one of the eight charter franchises of the American League. The team's name changed to the Red Sox in 1908, and have called legendary Fenway Park their home since 1912.
After winning 5 World Series championships by 1918, the team went through an 86 year championship drought in part from the “Curse of the Bambino,” which saw the Red Sox sell Babe Ruth to the rival New York Yankees. The Red Sox have since won three titles after breaking the curse, most recently in 2013.
