Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals are a Major League Baseball franchise located in Kansas City, Missouri. The Royals were founded in 1969 and are members of the American League Central division. Since 1973, the Royals have called Kauffman Stadium home. The team's nickname originates from the American Royal livestock show, horse show, rodeo, and championship barbeque competition that has been held in the city since 1899.

The franchise saw success in the 1980s, winning the World Series in 1985, before falling into one of the longest playoff droughts in league history. After 29 years, Kansas City finally returned to the playoffs, including winning the American League pennant. The Royals continued their success in 2015 with a World Series championship.
