Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a Major League Baseball franchise located in Los Angeles, California, and are currently members of the National League West division. The franchise was originally established in 1883 in Brooklyn, New York. After undergoing many name changes, the team finally became known as the Brooklyn Dodgers, named for the pedestrians of Brooklyn who had to dodge the streetcars throughout the city.
The Dodgers spent much of their time playing in Ebbets Field until they relocated to Los Angeles after the 1957 season. The Dodgers played four seasons at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum before moving to their permanent home, Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are one of the most successful franchises in baseball history, having won 21 National League pennants and six World Series championships, although neither since 1988.
