Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins are a Major League Baseball franchise located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, playing in the American League Central division. The franchise was originally founded as the Washington Senators in 1901 in Washington, D.C. as one of eight charter members of the American League. Minneapolis was awarded an expansion team in 1960, but Washington's owner, Calvin Griffith, requested and was given approval to move his team to Minneapolis and have the expansion team form a new team in Washington.
The Twins began play in 1961 at Metropolitan Stadium before moving to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in 1982. The Metrodome was the sight of both of the Twins World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. The franchise won another World Series in 1924 while in Washington. Starting in 2010, the Minnesota Twins moved to their new home, Target Field.
