Oakland Athletics
The Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball franchise located in Oakland, California. Commonly referred to simply as the “A's,” the Athletics franchise was originally founded in 1901 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as one of the eight charter franchises of the American League. The team left for Kansas City, Missouri in 1955, becoming the Kansas City Athletics, before finally making their way to Oakland in 1968.
The Oakland Athletics play their home games at the Oakland Collisuem. Since being established, the Athletics franchise has won nine total World Series titles, the 3rd most in baseball history. The most recent World Series championship came in 1989, with another American League pennant added in 1990.
