Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies are a Major League Baseball franchise located in the south end of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Phillies are the oldest continous, one-name, one-city franchise in American sports, with the franchise being established in 1883. The Phillies are members of the National League East division and have called Citizens Bank Park home since 2004 after leaving Veterans Stadiums.
Although the Phillies won their first National League pennant in 1915, the team went 77 years since the World Series was established before claiming their first World Series championship in 1980. The Philadelphia Phillies have the distinction of having the most losses in baseball history, but have had a winning period during the late 2000s, which included five straight division titles, two National League pennants, and their second World Series championship, which came in 2009.
