San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres are a Major League Baseball franchise located in San Diego, California, and play as membes of the National League West division. The team's name of Padres, which is Spanish for “fathers,” if in reference to the Spanish Franciscan Friars who founded the city in 1769. The Padres played in Qualcomm stadium from 1969 through 2003, after which they moved to Petco Park.
As with most expansion teams, the Padres have struggled , acheiving modest success between 1984 and 2006, with five division titles and two National League pennants, however, the Padres have never won a World Series. As the city of San Diego is home to a number of miitary bases, the team became the first national sports team to hold an annual military appreciation event, which has since grown into the Padres wearing camouflage jerseys for every Sunday home game.
