Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays, originally known as the Devil Rays, are a Major League Baseball franchise located in St. Petersburg, Florida. The city was awarded the expansion franchise in 1995, with the team starting play in 1998 as a member of the American League East division and play their home games at Tropicana Field.

Their first decade as a franchise saw the team struggle, often ending the season at the bottom of the division. The Rays made their first post-season appearance in 2008, winning the American League pennant, before losing the World Series to the Philadelphia Phillies. Since then, the Rays have been consistent contenders in the division, making the playoffs several more times.
