Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals are a Major League Baseball franchise located in Washington, D.C., and are members of the National League East division. The franchise was originally founded in in 1969 as the Montreal Expos in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as the first team based outside of the United States. The Expos played their home games in Jarry Park Stadium from 1969 to 1976 before moving to Olympic Stadium where they played until the franchise relocated to Washington, D.C. after the 2004 season.

 

The Expos had one division title in 1981, and had the best record in MLB in 1994 at the time of the players' strike, which ended the season early and lead to the cancellation of the World Series. Since moving to Washington, D.C., the Nationals have won two other division titles in 2012 and 2014, but have yet to reach the World Series.
