Venue History
Angel Stadium is a modern-style ballpark located in Anaheim, California, and is home to Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Angel Stadium opened in 1966, and also played host to the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League from 1980 to 1994. The upper deck of the stadium was extended around the entire outfield to provide more seating for football games, but was later removed once the Rams vacated to St. Louis.
The stadium gained the nickname “The Big A” due to a 230 foot tall A-frame sign that was moved from the outfield seating area to the parking lot. The halo of the sign is lit up when the Angels win a home or road game. One of the most well known features of the stadium is the fountain and rock formation in left-center field which was added during a renovation in 1997.
