Venue History
AT&T Park is the current home ballpark of Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants. Originally known as Pacific Bell Park, the stadium opened in 2000, replacing Candlestick Park, which had been the Giants home since 1960. Loated in the China Basin neighborhood of San Francisco, California, AT&T Park sits on the edge of the waters to the San Francisco Bay.
The section of the bay behind the right field wall is known as McCovey Cove, after Giants legend Willie McCovey. The right field wall stands at 24 feet high to make up for its short distance to home due to the water limiting space for the field. A “Splash Hits” counter is found on the right field wall to record the number of times that a home run lands in the water. Two of the most recognizable features of the ballpark are the giant Coka Cola bottle and baseball mit behind the left field wall that are part of a fan attractions zone.
