Venue History
Comerica Park is the current home of Major League Baseball's Deroit Tigers. The ballpark is located in downtown Detroit, Michigan, and opened in 2000 after the Tigers vacated legendary Tiger Stadium. Besides dead center field, the dimensions of Comerica Park were more expansive than Tiger Stadium, causing Comerica Park to be one of the most pitcher friendly ballparks in the league.
After several seasons, the decision to move the fences in in left-center field have led the ballpark to become much more batter friendly. Some of the most recognizable features of the stadium include the dirt strip running from the pitcher's mound to home plate, 9 tiger statues located throughout the park, and baseball and tiger themed carnival rides.
