Venue History
PNC Park is a ballpark located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is home to Major League Baseball's Pittsburgh Pirates. Opened in 2001 following the team moving from Three Rivers Stadium, PNC Park has consistently ranked one of the best ballparks in the league.
Built along the banks of the Allegheny River, the ballpark offers sweeping views of downtown Pittsburgh and its bridges, including the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which crosses the river just beyond center field and is closed to vehicle traffic on game days to allow fans to walk across the river to the stadium from downtown. On very rare occassions, home run balls will land in the river. As another tribute to Roberto Clemente, who played right field for the Pirates for his entire Hall of Fame career, the right field wall is 21 feet tall for Clemente's jersey number.
