Venue History
Rogers Centre, originally known as SkyDome, opened in 1989 in downtown Toronto, Ontario as the home of the Major League Baseball franchise theToronto Blue Jays. The stadium is known as the first dome to have a fully retractable motorized roof, and was the last North American major league stadium to be built to accommodate both baseball and football.
Rogers Centre also played host to the National Basketball Association's Toronto Raptors for four seasons (1995-1999) while their area was being constructed, as well as the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League from 1989 through 2015.
